Nina’s Moroccan Skin Recipes

Growing up in Moroccan there were many things we took for granted without knowing the real benefits of some of the products we used in our daily life except that your mom and grand mother's insisting that it is good for the skin.

From all the ones that I like to use I would like to highlight the following:

1. Rose water & Saffron tonic

I use this as part of my skin care routine, using Organic rose water and mix it with some pistils of Saffron, even though the liquid will turn yellow it will not stain the skin.

Roses have a lot of phenolics compound which usually possesses many benefits such as antioxidants and antidepressant. Most importantly Rose water is used in the beauty industry for its anti wrinkle property:

Saffron unlike its color is known to brighten the skin and give it a glowing and radiant look. It is also full of antioxidants and help fight inflammation:

2. Prickly Pear Oil

One of my favourite carrier oils, it is gentle, healing and protective, and has been used for centuries to treat everything from burns to illnesses

The oil is full of antioxidant and antibacterial properties and has a high content of vitamin E, sterols and fatty acids. It is also known that it contains lionic acid enabling the skin to retain water and remain hydrated, and helps to stimulate collagen

It takes one million prickly pear seeds to produce one litre of oil. Has been part of my routine for many years and a staple in my home

3. Argan Oil

Of course as a Moroccan I have to mention the famous argan oil or as others refer to it Moroccan oil.

I love using it as it is a great carrier oil full of antioxidants and known for its anti inflammatory properties it is used in the cosmetic world a base in many anti aging products but my favorite thing is that you can also use it for your hair, since it is high in essential fatty acids it is known to improve the health of the scalp

There are many other products we use such as ghassoul (clay powder), henna just to mention a few which are also known for their many skin benefits but I wanted to share my all time favorites.

Having good genes is great but it does not hurt to use a few extra things to keep looking youthful :)

Cheers,
Nina
